As an advisor to major donors and strategic grant-makers it is a pleasure to walk with people who want to do the most good. These are the folks for whom I wrote Connected for Good: A Gameplan for a Generous Life and created the Generosity Gameplan™. The book inspires with stories of real people and the Gameplan is a step-by-step process for people who seek to create real change, using a fresh approach to generosity.
Through The Legacy Group my team and I provide management services for private foundations. This team focuses on governance, administration, compliance and program so that the donors can concentrate on the joys of giving.
My goal is to bring generous people to a destination where each act of generosity comes from their heart, where relationships are built an inch wide and a mile deep; where strengths of skills and character are spent from an inexhaustible well of care; and where giving financial and material resources feels like sharing from an abundance rather than giving from what is leftover.
I am fortunate to serve some of the nation’s most generous families and the nonprofits they care about and I am always learning new ways to be generous by putting these lessons into practice in my own life and through our family’s private foundation.
My 35-year marriage to Jamee has taught me about love and commitment and together we share what we are learning in our Parish marriage ministry. It is a privilege to serve on the boards of Relationships First, Institute for Family Studies, Leadership Network, Catholic Leadership Network and Nativity Jesuit Academy. My wife Jamee and I have fun at Wyndridge Farm in western Wisconsin where we grow fruit and vegetables to give away, fly fish and spend time with friends. We stay involved in the aspirations of our adult children, Karen, Brandt, Micah and our new granddaughter Anna Grace.
